The small calico she-cat sat in silence, alert to any sounds or sudden movements.
She was excited, of course, to have finally received her Warrior name, and wanted to prove herself by accomplishing this simple task of staying up and guarding the camp and her Clanmates. Of course, she wasn't doing this alone.
Her green-eyed gaze wandered over to Streamtail. The fellow new-warrior would now be able to have an official mate, and the calico smiled inwardly, glad for the warrior she hardly knew. Of course, with luck, that would change.
She turned to look at the sky, remembering her first friend, who was no longer with them. You always made an effort to talk to me... I miss you, and I won't forget you. I swear, after tonight, I'll do my best from now on to be stronger, and friendlier, and more talkative and less shy!
Nodding slowly at her silent vow, she looked over at the other cat that was standing vigil: a brown tom with large paws: Heavyfoot. The calico felt something similar to butterflies in her chest and stomach when she looked at him, and silently wondered if he felt the same. I guess I'll find out later.
She sighed silently, then gazed around the camp: it had been her home for about six moons now, and she realized somewhat sadly she only knew about three cats. Another thing that would change after tonight.
Memories began coming to her as she continued to watch over the camp with her companions. Her family... Where were they?... Being left by the river, where a Pebbleclan patrol soon found her... Meeting her mentor... Then Tumblepaw... Going fishing... And on a border patrol with Quickwind, and Brackensoul, and Heavyfoot, Heavypaw at the time... Finding out so many cats had died, and were still going to die, from these rogues... Watching her mentor become Deputy... And tonight, hearing the Clan call her new Warrior name. The name that, somehow, gave her courage, and made her want to change for the better.
