The rogue she-cat flopped onto the ground, exhausted. She hadn't caught anything to eat in days, and she was starving. It normally wouldn't have mattered, but her swollen belly spoke of her having kits soon. I can't... she thought to herself weakly. We're all going to die... I wonder what will happen to us...?

The pale brown tabby closed her eyes, prepared to face the end, when pawsteps reached her ears. Go away... Let me die in peace...

The soon-to-be mother opened her eyes slightly as three cats appeared around some large rocks. One noticed her right away, and its eyes grew large. "Great Starclan!" The cry seemed to cause the other's to notice her, and the hurried over. The one who noticed her seemed to be in charge, as he began giving orders. "Beetlepelt, go warn the others that we're bringing someone to camp. Make sure to have some prey ready. Mosstail, help me carry her."

At the orders, a black tom with a white belly ran off, and the two remaining cats, a brown tabby she-cat and the jet black tom with a torn ear that was giving orders, began helping the queen to her feet, the she-cat quietly talking. "It's okay, you'll be okay... What's your name?"

"Aspen." she weakly answered. "My name is Aspen."

"Well, Aspen, I'm Mosstail, and this is Adderfang. We're going to take you to our camp and make you all better, okay?"

The pale brown tabby nodded tiredly, and the two led her away.

A few moons had passed since then. Aspen had been welcomed by her saviors, and had learned quite a bit about them. The were Clan cats, for one, and the rumors the rogue had heard about such cats were apparently very wrong. They weren't lawless, and they definitely didn't eat bones or kill others without reason. They cared for each other, and queens, kits, and elders were cared for especially well.

Aspen was especially thankful for the last one, as she had recently given birth to one kit, a pale brown she-kit known as Lizard. The small she-kit was three moons old, and had shown much interest in the life of a Clan cat. Aspen couldn't blame her, it was all the kit had known. Maybe she'll join them... She could live better this way...

Lizard smiled as she playfully pounced on an older kit, Robinkit. "Gotcha!"

Robinkit purred. "Hey! No fair, Lizard!"

"So fair!" the younger kit purred, before she heard a voice call her name. "I'll be right back, Robin...kit!"

Aspen purred as her daughter ran over: her daughter had always had trouble with adding the last part of a Clan name. Maybe she would grow out of it. "Yes, Momma? What is it?" The kit turned to face the tom that sat next to her mother: a gray tom with ice blue eyes, the Clan's leader, Coldstar, before turning her attention back to her mother.

"Well, my kit, I have a question for you. I want you to answer honestly, okay?" When the small kitten nodded, Aspen continued, "You know I was a rogue, and you are too, in a way. That's why you don't have a Clan name like Robinkit. I was talking with Coldstar, though, and we were wondering. Would you like to be a Clan cat?"

Bright green eyes grew wide. "Really, Momma? I could be a Clan cat, too?" At her mother's nod, she asked, "Would I get a Clan name, too?"

Aspen purred. "Yes, my daughter. You would get a Clan name, and would be raised just like a Clan cat. Would you like that?"

"Keep in mind," Coldstar spoke for the first time. "You will have to train hard, just like the others. It won't be easy."

"Yes! I would really, really like that! I'll train hard, too! I promise!"

"Then from this moment on, you will be known as Lizardkit."

"Lizard..kit...?" The young she-cat tried the new name. It was weird, but she would get used to it. As Coldstar left, Aspen watched her daughter run over to Robinkit.

"Hey, Robinkit! Guess what?"

"All cats able to catch their own prey gather beneath the Fallen Rock for a Clan meeting!"

Lizardkit sat in front of the Fallen Rock, gazing up at Coldstar excitedly. It had been three moons since she had "become a Clan cat", and now she was about to have her Apprentice Ceremony. She gazed around at the cats that gathered. There was Robinpaw with her mentor, Adderfang. And there was Aspen, looking proud. Her attention was drawn back to Coldstar as he began speaking.

"Lizardkit, you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Lizardpaw. Your mentor will be Fogstorm. I hope Fogstorm will pass down all she knows to you."

Lizardpaw followed her leader's gaze to her new mentor. Fogstorm was a long-furred gray she-cat with yellow eyes. The new apprentice had seen the warrior interact with others: she seemed very kind.

"Fogstorm, you are ready to take on an apprentice. You had received excellent training from Echoheart, and have shown yourself to be kind and strong. You will be the mentor or Lizardpaw, and I expect you to pass on all you know to Lizardpaw."

The two touched noses as the Clan called the new apprentice's name, and Lizardpaw couldn't have felt any more pride.

~~~~~~~
A few nights later, Lizardpaw returned from a late patrol. She had just seen the borders, and felt as if nothing could stop her.
Her eyes landed on her mother, Aspen. Ever since her daughter's apprentice ceremony, the pale brown tabby had been acting distant, and often spent her time at the edge of camp, staring out of the cave's entrance. Lizardpaw had tried to think of reasons for her mother's actions, but hadn't been able to find a satisfactory explanation.
Shrugging off the thoughts, the apprentice approached her mother. "Hi, Aspen. How are you?"
The older she-cat jumped slightly, before realizing who it was. "Oh, hello, Lizardpaw. I am well, and you?"
Something about how her mother was acting seemed off to the pale brown she-cat, and she narrowed her pale green eyes. "I'm okay... Are you sure you're okay, Aspen? You're acting... Different."
Aspen sighed, before giving her daughter a sad smile. "Yes, my daughter. I'm fine. I'm just..."
"Just what?"
"Lizardpaw, you know I was a rogue before you were born. I've stayed here for so long, but... I miss it, daughter. I love it here, but... Lizardpaw, my daughter... I'm leaving here. I'm sorry."
Pale green eyes filled with tears. "Wh-what? Mother..."
The tabby nuzzled her daughter. "I will visit you, Lizardpaw... Make me proud... I love you."
And with that, Aspen was gone, leaving her daughter with nothing but her scent.
The young she-cat threw herself into her training. No one, not even Robinpaw, could seem to reach her. She simply shrugged them off, and continued with even more force. I will make you proud, mother!
She hadn't payed much attention to the other Clans, but she knew the relationships were strained, especially with Rainclan. It was proven things had gone too far when the deputy, Briarclaw, was killed on a patrol. When Coldstar announced Caveclan would attack their rivals, Lizardpaw and Fogstorm were there, offering to fight.
The battle finally came, and Lizardpaw attacked with everything her. One Rainclan tom pinned her, and Fogstorm barreled into him. Lizardpaw got up, only to watch as the tom bit down on her mentor's neck. Fogstorm went limp, and didn't get back up.
The rest of the battle went by in a blur. Lizardpaw wasn't sure of anything, until she heard the screech of the deputy, Adderfang, ordering Caveclan to retreat. She didn't question why Coldstar didn't order it...
~~~~~

It was a few days after the battle. Many cats had died, including Coldstar, leaving Adderfang as leader: Adderstar. His first order of business, once deputy was chosen: naming Lizardpaw as Warrior.

"I, Adderstar, leader of Caveclan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. She has trained hard to understand your noble ways, and I commend her to you as a warrior in her turn." His gaze landed on Lizardpaw, who was shivering with excitement. "Lizardpaw, do you promise to uphold the Warrior Code adn protect your Clan, even at the cost of your life?"

She nodded as she answered. "I do."

"Then by the powers of Starclan, I give you your warrior name. Lizardpaw, from this moment on, you will be known as Lizardpelt. Starclan honors your honesty and kindness, and we welcome you as  full warrior of Caveclan."

As her Clanmates called her new name, Lizardpelt closed her eyes. I hope I've made you proud, mother...
So, since Adderstar's past is too long to finish in one class period, I decided to try and do Lizardpelt's instead~!

Yes, it's kind of crappy, but I'm rushing. I will re-write it later.
